Flintshire

For those that prefer the open countryside, there is no shortage of places to visit and you have 25 of the choicest rural walks that can be found. The Dee estuary is worth a visit for all nature lovers and so are the unspoilt pristine beaches and sand dunes.
Local life
Flintshire has its roots firmly in history and is a top tourist destination, yet at the same time it has several major industries. These are the Toyota Plant, the Airbus company, Shotton Paper and Corus Group Steelworks. The County is also known for its several internet companies that supply work to a significant number of people.
Flintshire has more than 150,000 inhabitants and the children’s education is taken care of in 75 primary schools, 3 special schools and 12 high schools. Culture is important in the county and they have brought the Welsh language, banned last century, back into the schools. The strong cultural influence shows clearly in the choirs and galleries in the country and of course Welsh choirs are world-renowned. Visitors are often in for a treat when they visit local pubs and listen to some of the great voices raised in song over a pint. The major drama producing theatre in Wales is the Clwyd Theatr Cymru in the town of Mold. Much of the work produced by the highly acclaimed drama company housed here goes on tour every year.
